This tour is slightly more challenging, offering big drop-offs overgrown with huge gorgonians and colourful soft corals. On this safari divers will have the opportunity to explore a variety of truly unique dive sites home to some very interesting and unusual reef formations. This itinerary is perfect for divers wanting to experience a slightly more 'untouched' Red Sea and is not to be missed.
QUALIFICATION NEEDED: You must be a PADI Open Water diver or equivalent with a minimum of 30 logged dives to join this safari.
Due to the locations of the dive sites visited on this itinerary there will be a substantial amount of travelling during the safari. This may mean that it is only possible to complete 3 dives on certain days.
Brothers & Elphinstone
Experience two of the finest sites in the Red Sea. A part of the Marine Park, the Brother islands offer breath-taking underwater scenery, wall diving, wreck diving and an abundance of marine wildlife. Elphinstone Reef is a legend in the Red Sea. Covered in hard and soft corals and visiting pelagics, this truly is an awesome reef.

A great all-round tour for divers with slightly more experience; this safari offers challenging dives, big drop offs, beautiful coral walls and plenty of large fish. There is so much to see you are spoilt for choice, but don't forget to keep an eye out to the blue... you never know what you might see!

Many have said that the Red Sea offers some of the most impressive diving in the world. Beneath the surface of the crystal clear water lies an exotic collection of marine species. From sharks to dolphins, Napoleon Wrasse to the popular Clown Fish, the Red Sea truly is a spectacular place. A unique underwater playground, the Red Sea welcomes divers of any ability to observe and enjoy..
’HAYAH’ - Reef Clean-up (Subsidised)
We are running reef clean-up safari's in support of marine conservation and HEPCA's new 'HAYAH' campaign.
Hayah' meaning 'Life' in Arabic, is HEPCA's most ambitious environmental project yet, aiming to involve all sections of the Red Sea community to work towards; raising awareness, education and responsibility and active participation.
The 'Hayah' safari follows a Northern Wrecks & Reefs itinerary and focuses on 'problem reefs' in the Northern Red Sea where 2-3 clean-ups will take place during the week - allowing an opportunity for divers to get involved and make a real contribution to the preservation of this unique ecosystem.
*All dive sites visited are subject to weather conditions and is at the discretion of your dive guides and vessel captain.
Evening seminars on reef conservation will also be conducted by blue o two's expert dive guides.
blue o two run these trips at a subsidised price in an attempt to make ecotourism more accesible to the masses - Everyone should be able to afford to help!
Guests will experience a week of stunning Red Sea liveaboard diving with the added value of giving something back to the marine environment that they love.
Project Shark: Daedalus & St Johns
PURPOSE: If you've been lucky enough to encounter sharks during your Red Sea dives you might have formed one of a declining number of divers who will. Did you know that the Great Hammerhead shark; a regular inhabitant of the Red Sea, is listed as one of the world's top 20 most endangered sharks? Or that there is currently too little information for scientists to confirm if the Thresher shark; another Red Sea inhabitant, is also endangered?
The aim of 'Project Shark' is to highlight these global issues, with a Red Sea focus, as well as enjoying some of the most spectacular reefs that the Red Sea has to offer.
During this week, divers will experience pristine diving, as well as becoming involved in a fundamental study of one of the world's most unique marine habitats - the Red Sea. The week will involve close encounters with sharks, Manta Rays and Whale Sharks (although these sightings cannot be guaranteed!) with the possibility to observe them in their natural habitat and donate vital information to the study.
The week will offer the opportunity to:
·
Learn about the biology and behaviour of sharks within the Red Sea
·
Learn and develop skills in Marine Biological studies; collecting data, species identification and analysing data
·
Learn about globally endangered marine species and what we can do as divers to ensure their protection
·
Enjoy fantastic diving on some of the most unique Red Sea reefs
·
Experience potential close encounters with sharks, Manta Rays and Whale Sharks*
Straits of Tiran & Brothers
Experience the well preserved coral reefs of the Straits of Tiran coupled with arguably the best dive site in the whole of the Red Sea, Brother Islands. On this unique safari there is a chance that you could encounter schools of hammerheads and whalesharks as well as an abundance of other marine wildlife.
QUALIFICATION NEEDED: You must be a PADI Advanced Open Water diver or equivalent with a minimum of 50 logged dives to join this safari
North & Ras Mohamed
This itinerary is the same as the Northern Wrecks and Reefs itinerary, but with the added bonus of visiting the beautiful marine park of Ras Mohamed. Ras Mohamed offers variety& shallow, scenic plateau dives and also big drop offs with views into the blue. Currents in this area can often be strong and so for the more experienced, there is the opportunity for some fantastic drift dives along the wall.

Itinerary Highlights:
Here are just a few of the sites you will have the opportunity to visit on this safari...*
SS. Thistlegorm - Shaab Ali
Probably the most famous of the Red Sea wrecks. The 129m English Freighter was bombed by German aviation on 6th October 1941. Today she creates an artificial reef on a sandy bottom at 32m max depth. She is home to an enormous variety of marine life and is especially popular with large schooling fish.
Ras Mohamed - Shark & Yolanda Reefs
This is a world renowned dive site, situated at the tip of the Sinai. Two small ergs are joined by a vertical wall dropping into the abyss. At shark reef the current allows you to drift along the wall, rich with colourful corals. Moving towards Yolanda reef you reach a plateau scattered with small ergs and coral outcrops. Continuing around the reef you will come upon the scattered remains of the wreck 'Yolanda' complete with its cargo of toilets and baths. The whole of this area is big fish territory so keep an eye on the blue!
Small Crack - Shaab Mahmoud
This is a small split in the middle of Shaab Mahmoud's barrier. Drift along the outside wall next to beautiful corals and colourful fish. Look for a sand slope that leads you up and through the crack. When the current is right you can fly through the 5m deep channel and be thrown out across the sandy lagoon!
Gubal Island
At the gate of the Straits of Gubal is 'Bluff Point', which gets its name from the turbulence created by strong currents that beat the eastern wall of the island. The wreck of the 'Ulysses' lies on the reef 300m north of the lighthouse, starting at 5m and sloping to 25m. 'The Barge' wreck, south of the lighthouse, provides divers with a fun and unusual night dive. The wrecks skeleton creates protection for all types of night creatures.
Shag Rock
This large circular reef is often overlooked but offers excellent diving on pristine coral from any location on its perimeter.
* All dive sites are subject to weather conditions.
